San Francisco. The city by the bay and one that fog hangs so low you can’t see the horizon. Why visit? Maybe for the fresh, local food; The quirkiness of old, city locales; The streets that roll up and down with the current of the nearby bay; Or possibly for the experience. The distance from here and home, no need to rush around and for a quick visit to a remarkable town.

Hello dear friends! We recently returned from Northern California where we spent a week enjoying varies cities. Both our first, and our last destination was San Fransisco. The energy in this city practically changes as you change where you are. Locals are young, and ambitious, which maintain a fun and interesting atmosphere. One exciting thing for us New Yorker’s was the trolley carts that drove round the city. You knew they were approaching for the well-known bell would be sounded nearby.

On our way to visit the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, we walked through The Palace of Fine Arts. The Palace can be seen by the massive architectural structure that sits right outside the performance hall. If you are ever to come here, then let me reassure you that no, you have not just been transported to Athens Greece, however, by the structure that’s what appears. The palace is located not far from the bay by the bridge making it an easy destination to see while passing by.

The Golden Gate Bridge, until 1964 the longest suspension bridge in the world, now the ninth, shines through fog and wind for while on the coast of the bay you can almost catch a glimpse of her. Although the water is too cold to take a swim, hundreds still travel to lay on the beach and marvel at her. Air gliders sail atop the water, dogs run along the shore and civilians lay on towels against the cool, grayish sand. Make sure to hold all hats because the wind rushing off the water will catch it and send it soaring!

If wanting to see the bridge, the following are our recommended spots to got to. For a close up view; Crissy Field, Fort Point, Baker Beach, Fisherman’s Wharf, and of course to drive though! For a glimpse from afar: Coit Tower – Telegraph Hill and Lover’s Lane – The Presidio. While along the coast, it’s always nice to take a stroll so save some time in your itinerary for that or even a bike ride!
